First Day Of Class

Hello hello,

So the first day of class was last wednesday and it was definitely interesting. I got the hint that it’s a good idea to use the internet and media to help you teach in the classroom. Since i am a Math major, this might be a little tough but hopefully throughout this course i will be able to think or find some ideas which i could use. I have written down in my notes that Dan Meyer is a good example for visuals and that he is a math teacher as well so when he comes to give us some presentations i’ll be sure to pay attention. I also heard my teacher, Dean, say the quote “When we make our learning transparent, we become teachers” I’m not quite sure what that means, but i can’t wait to discover and learn on what it does. Also in class last week, i found out that this class is officially online. Not going to lie, i was terrified when i found out. I’ve been checking in and working on our first assignment this past week and i’m thinking that it’s not going to be that bad, especially when my teacher is only an email away and he replies back quickly! (Super handy!) I’m looking forward to this weeks class, i still don’t have internet at home yet so i’ll have to go into the school, but i can’t wait to see what this first online session is going to be like! It’s going to be interesting that’s for sure..

  1. Hillary,
You’re already doing it….making your learning transparent. Showing how we learn, being vulnerable, reflective and transparent is what really models what it means to be a “lead learner” in your classroom. I love this quote:
“The illiterate of the 21st Century are those who cannot learn, unlearn and relearn”. Looking forward to watching you learn and share your learning journey
